The Sedona–Oak Creek Airport Authority (SOCAA) is seeking a hands-on Business Manager to
support the ongoing business and administrative operations of a small airport authority. This is a senior management position requiring supervisory responsibility and the ability to step in directly as needed, working closely with the General Manager.
The Business Manager provides overall leadership and oversight of the Authority’s financial,
administrative, and property and lease management functions. While not primarily responsible
for daily transactional processing, the Business Manager must remain fully capable of performing day-to-day financial operations when necessary to ensure continuity of operations. As a small organization, this role requires flexibility, sound judgment, and readiness to engage directly across multiple functional areas.
- Provide oversight of financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and internal controls
- Manage property and lease administration, including preparation, review, tracking, and compliance of ground leases, hangar leases, and commercial lease agreements; coordination of lease documentation, amendments, assignments, consents, and related records; and monitoring of lease compliance requirements such as insurance, permitted use, and reporting obligations
- Oversee cash management, banking activities, and investment-related transactions
- Perform monthly account reconciliations and maintain readiness to perform daily
financial and operational tasks, including transactional posting, as needed to ensure
continuity of operations
- Prepare and present financial reports, forecasts, and analyses for management review
- Administer insurance-related matters, including coordination of policies, certificates of
insurance, and compliance tracking
- Provide management-level HR support, including onboarding, policy development, and
identification of HR needs throughout the employee lifecycle
- Coordinate with external auditors and tax professionals and review audit and financial
reports
- Assist with Board meetings and provide administrative and logistical support, including
preparation of materials and related follow-up
- Perform other related duties in support of the Authority’s ongoing business operations
- Bachelor’s degree required; accounting, finance, or a related field preferred
- Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible management experience in accounting, budgeting, financial analysis, property or asset management, or fiscal administration
- Supervisory experience required
- Demonstrated ability to step in and perform hands-on financial and operational work as
needed, while primarily providing management and oversight
- Strong working knowledge of common business software and systems, including the
ability to learn and use point-of-sale (POS) systems; ability to identify system issues and
coordinate appropriately with third-party IT providers in the absence of on-site IT support
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with insurance policies, certificates of insurance, and risk management preferred
- QuickBooks Desktop experience is a plus
- Equivalent combinations of education and substantial professional experience will be considered.

comfortable balancing oversight responsibilities with direct involvement as operational needs
