Each year the Sedona Airport supports the National Forest Service and its contractors through a Land Use Agreement providing a base to operate from, fuel, and other services to assist fighting wildfires in the vicinity.

The Miller Fire was discovered mid-afternoon on Sunday the 21st of May.
As of Friday the 26th the fire was 1% contained and covered 35 acres centered approximately 5nm to the NW of Sedona in the Secret Canyon Wilderness in the Coconino National Forest.
At that time it was classified a Type 3 Fire with over 70 personnel assigned to it. Helicopters basing from Sedona Airport have included a CH-47 Chinook, multiple Airbus Aerostars, a Bell Ranger 206 and a UH-1 Huey from multiple Wildfire Fighting Contractors under the command of the National Forest Service.
